Laser Hair Rejuvenation (also known as Low-level Laser Therapy) is a clinically proven advanced method of invigorating hair follicles, stimulating hair growth and stunting hair loss.

VIVO Clinic’s Laser Hair Rejuvenation Therapy is a process of non-surgical hair treatments which consist of applying low-level light lasers directly to the scalp. The light wavelength emitted from a low-level laser will repair tissues that have an impaired cellular metabolism by stimulating blood circulation and encouraging the regeneration of normal healthy tissues. Our Laser Hair Rejuvenation procedures are non-harmful, non-intrusive and side-effect free.

Our treatment sessions are suitable for those suffering from hair loss, hair thinning and androgenetic alopecia, working to revitalize and rejuvenate the hair follicles found beneath the scalp. How Does Laser Hair Rejuvenation Work?

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) was discovered in 1967 by Hungarian researcher “Mester,” who found that a low-level laser increased hair growth on the backs of shaved mice. Since then, following successful clinical trials and advanced technology innovations, LLLT is now a proven method of preventing hair loss and stimulating hair growth in both men and women.

LLLT works by emitting energy from low-level lasers directly towards the scalp, promoting cellular metabolism due to the red-light wavelength within the laser spectrum. This metabolic reaction revitalises the scalp, leading to the formation of new blood vessels around hair follicles. As a result of this, there is an increase of oxygen and blood flow towards the hair follicles, creating active hair growth.

The Procedure

We are proud to say that our equipment is compliant with FDA regulations, allowing us to offer a procedure that is safe and non-invasive. During the procedure, you will be placed under a machine that directs the low-level lasers towards multiple areas of the scalp, covering three sides of the head. You will sit under this device for 20-30 minutes per session, during which time we are happy to provide you with entertainment, or a drink to help you have a relaxing and enjoyable experience!

The Hair Growth Cycle

Hair grows from the follicle underneath the skin and is “fed” by blood vessels located at the base of the follicle, which gives it the nourishment to grow. Hair follicles typically undergo repetitive regenerative hair cycles, enabling hair to grow and renew. Each regenerative cycle consists of four stages:

Anagen (Growing Phase)

Rapid growth phase which determines the length of our hair. The anagen phase lasts 2-7 years.

Catagen (Transition Phase)

Transitional stage in which the hair follicle shrinks, signifying the end of active growth. Lasts for around 10 days.

Telogen (Resting Phase)

Resting phase for hair growth as follicles become lifeless and fall out. When the hair shaft falls out, the specific hair follicle becomes inactive for a period (2-3 months) before the growth cycle begins again.

Exogen (The Shedding Phase)

During the resting phase, approximately 50-150 hairs can fall out daily.  This is considered to be normal hair shedding.

What Causes Hair Loss?

Hair loss occurs when the growth cycle is disrupted. Hair loss is a common condition, and there are multiple reasons for hair loss, hair thinning, and stunted hair growth, which may occur in both men and women. These factors can be environmental, genetical or simply a result of the ageing process as seen in the table below.

The Theradome helmet introduces a major step forward in hair regrowth treatments, consisting of 80 therapeutically effective lasers with a treatment area coverage of over 500cm²  to fully cover the scalp.

The laser helmet device works in three stages:

1. Minimizing hair loss
2. Reversing miniaturization for thicker and fuller hair
3. Rejuvenating hair growth

The 80 optimally engineered laser lights featured within the Theradome helmet disperse cool lasers which optimally penetrate the scalp to reach the hair follicle, whilst producing only 1°C of heat.

Laser Hair Rejuvenation Timeline

Similar to hair loss, hair growth is a gradual process. It takes time and regular treatment for hair follicles to regenerate, and stimulate growth. The following is an approximate timeline of what to expect during your Hair Rejuvenation journey:

0-3 Months: An increase in shedding may occur or you may see no changes at all. If this is the case, there is nothing to worry about – shedding is an indication the treatment has been effective.

3-6 Months: A decrease in hair loss and reduced shedding.

12 Months: Visible hair growth. Hair is thicker and fuller in appearance.

24 Months+: Thicker, healthier and fuller hair growth. Hair will appear to be lustrous and rejuvenated.
