In-clinic COVID-19 Tests

We are proud to announce that we can now offer in-clinic antibody testing for COVID-19 at VIVO Clinic. Our Healthcare Professional will perform the serological antibody test while wearing all of the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and will help you to interpret the results.

What is the antibody test?

VIVO Clinic’s serological antibody test aims to identify the presence of Immunoglobulin M and Immunoglobulin G antibodies that are specific to COVID-19. If either of the antibodies are detected, this can indicate that a person has had the coronavirus. If Immunoglobulin G is detected, this implies that the person may have built up immunity to COVID-19.

Our antibody test is type of serological test. A serological test involves using blood sample to detect the presence of antibodies against an antigen.

How is the antibody test performed?

During the serological antibody test, a blood sample is taken. Within 15 minutes, your Healthcare Professional will be able to examine the results. The test itself only takes 5 minutes to perform.

When you book an appointment, we will give you a half an hour slot to ensure there is enough time for the test to be performed correctly, and for you to discuss your results with our Healthcare Professional.

When should I undergo the antibody test?

You must not book an appointment or come to our clinic if you are currently suffering from any symptoms related to COVID-19. You should wait at least 14 days after you first experience symptoms, as advised by the government. If, after these 14 days, you are still experiencing a high temperature, you should wait until your temperature has returned to normal. We ask that you follow these instructions to protect others and to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The serological antibody test does not indicate whether a person is currently suffering from the coronavirus, but rather, it suggests whether a person has already had the virus and begun to recover from it. Therefore, it is best to carry out the test after you have experienced symptoms.

Are there any requirements when booking an appointment?

When you attend the clinic for your appointment, you must come to the clinic alone. You must also be over the age of 18 to undergo the antibody test.

You cannot attend the clinic without an appointment, and we will not be accepting walk-ins.

Is the antibody test the same as the tests performed by the government?

No. Serological antibody tests indicate whether a person has already had COVID-19. On the other hand, PCR tests that are being conducted by the government determine if someone is currently infected with COVID-19, even if they are not exhibiting symptoms. While the antibody test can yield results in 15 minutes, there is a longer waiting test for the results of government PCR tests, as the samples must be examined in a laboratory.

How accurate are the tests?

The antibody tests are approximately 98% accurate. Please see below for more information about sensitivity, specificity and accuracy.
