Cryolipolysis/Fat Freeze

Cryolipolysis is fast becoming a popular treatment. In basic terms, this treatment involves the freezing of fat cells in a specific area of the body. Fat cells have a weak structure, and therefore cannot survive at these temperatures. They die and leave the body through the lymphatic system, which works to remove toxins. As a result of this, fat in the target area is reduced, giving you a healthier and toned appearance. Cryolipolysis is ideal for areas where fat is hard to get rid of through lifestyle, for instance, the chin, stomach, and back.

It is important to us that we understand your goals. Therefore, once you have undergone a full consultation, we can plan your treatment. Cryolipolysis sessions last approximately 1 hour, during which time a cooling gel pad is placed onto the target areas. When the vacuum applicator draws in the fat, you may feel a mild cooling sensation; this is perfectly normal and all a part of the fat freezing procedure.

Throughout the session, the temperature will gradually fall to -7 to -8 degrees Celsius thus freezing the fat cells. Once the treatment is over, a practitioner will remove the gel pad and massage the now contort layer of fat back into shape. Clients can expect minimal discomfort during the session. However, depending on the sensitivity of your skin, some people may experience temporary bruising after the procedure.

During the procedure, clients can make use of our iPads and other forms of entertainment, but if you just prefer a nice cup of tea, then that’s fine too.

Cryolipolysis Sessions

The number of sessions required is contingent upon your aims. Many people benefit from one session. However, you may need more treatments depending on the size of the target area and the number of areas being treated. When you come in for a consultation, our practitioners will assess your circumstances and advise you on the course of treatments that will produce the best results.

Results

The results vary depending on the density of the fat, and the size of the areas treated. Results can take up to 12 weeks* to be visible (see research).

Fat Freezing Aftercare

Although the number of fat cells is reduced during Cryolipolysis, clients are still advised to live a healthy lifestyle as this will help maintain their results. Furthermore, it is essential that you drink 2 to 3 litres of water a day to flush the dead fat cells out of your body. It is also important to exercise regularly as this will assist in the metabolism of the dead fat cells.
